2. Types of Leave
2.1. Annual Leave (Paid Time Off)

2.2. Sick Leave
Employees are entitled to paid sick leave as per the {{relevant_labour_law_or_bcea}}, typically {{number_of_days}} days in a {{sick_leave_cycle_period}}. A medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner is required for absences exceeding {{number_of_consecutive_days_for_certificate}} consecutive working days or if requested by management.
2.3. Family Responsibility Leave

Maternity leave may be unpaid or partially paid, depending on {{company_benefits_or_unemployment_insurance_fund_rules}}. Employees must notify the company of their pregnancy by {{notice_period_in_weeks}} weeks prior to the expected date of birth.
2.5. Paternity Leave

2.6. Compassionate Leave
Employees may be granted compassionate leave in the event of a death of a direct family member. The duration of compassionate leave will be determined on a case-by-case basis by management, typically up to {{number_of_days}} days.
3. Leave Request Procedure
All leave requests must be submitted through {{HR_system_or_process}} at least {{notice_period_days}} days in advance (for planned leave). Emergency leave (e.g., sick leave) should be communicated to the manager within {{hours_of_absence}} hours of the start of absence.
Managers will approve or decline leave requests based on operational requirements and the employee's leave balance. Employees will be notified of the decision within {{response_time_days}} days.
4. Leave Accrual and Carrying Over
Annual leave accrues from the commencement of employment.
Unused annual leave up to a maximum of {{max_carry_over_days}} days may be carried over to the next leave cycle. Any leave exceeding this amount will be forfeited unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by management.
5. Unpaid Leave
In exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of management, unpaid leave may be granted. Requests for unpaid leave must be submitted in writing, detailing the reasons and duration.
6. Public Holidays
Employees are entitled to paid public holidays as gazetted in {{country/region}}. Should an employee be required to work on a public holiday, they will be compensated according to {{company_overtime_policy_or_labour_law}}.
7. Policy Review
