1. Policy Statement

{{company_name}} recognises the importance of civic participation and encourages its employees to exercise their right to vote. This policy outlines the provisions for employees to take time off to vote in designated local, national, or regional elections.

2. Eligibility

All full-time and part-time employees of {{company_name}} are eligible for time off to vote in accordance with the provisions of this policy and applicable laws.

3. Paid Time Off for Voting

{{company_name}} will provide paid time off for voting, where necessary, to ensure employees have sufficient opportunity to cast their ballots. The duration of paid time off will be determined by the reasonable time required to travel to the polling station, cast a vote, and return to work, up to a maximum of {{max_paid_hours}} hours.

Employees are expected to vote outside of working hours if feasible and if polling hours permit. Paid time off will only be granted if an employee\'s scheduled working hours coincide with the majority of polling hours, making it impossible to vote otherwise.

4. Notice Requirements

Employees who require time off to vote must notify their direct supervisor at least {{notice_days}} working days in advance of the election day. This notification should include the estimated time required for voting.

5. Scheduling of Time Off

Supervisors will work with employees to schedule time off in a manner that minimises disruption to business operations while ensuring the employee can vote. Supervisors may require employees to provide proof of voting, such as a voter\'s receipt or marked ballot paper (if permissible and legal in the specific jurisdiction and election type), upon return to work.

Employees are expected to report to work immediately after voting, or at the start of their scheduled shift if voting is conducted before work begins.

6. Unpaid Time Off

In instances where an employee requests additional time off beyond the maximum paid time specified in this policy, or where the conditions for paid time off are not met, unpaid leave may be granted at the discretion of management and in accordance with company leave policies.

7. Compliance with Laws

This policy is subject to all applicable national, regional, and local laws and regulations concerning employee time off for voting in the jurisdiction where {{company_name}} operates. In the event of any conflict between this policy and applicable law, the law shall prevail.

8. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically by {{company_name}} to ensure its continued relevance and compliance with legal requirements. Any amendments to this policy will be communicated to all employees.
