1. Purpose
This policy is designed to encourage continuous professional development among our employees while safeguarding the company's investment in their training. It sets out the conditions under which the company will fund employee training and the circumstances under which an employee may be required to reimburse the company for such costs.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all permanent employees of {{company_name}} who undertake company-sponsored training, courses, or professional development programs that incur significant costs to the company.
3. Training Approval and Funding
3.1. All training must be directly relevant to the employee's role, career development within the company, or the strategic objectives of {{company_name}}.
3.2. Training requests must be submitted to and approved by {{direct_manager_name}} and {{HR_department_name}} prior to enrolment.
3.3. The company will cover the cost of approved training, including course fees, examination fees, and reasonable travel and accommodation expenses as per the company's Travel and Expense Policy.

4. Training Reimbursement Conditions
4.1. Employees who voluntarily resign, or whose employment is terminated for cause, within a specified period after completing company-sponsored training may be required to reimburse {{company_name}} for a portion of the training costs.
4.2. The reimbursement period and percentage will be outlined in the Training Agreement and will typically follow a declining scale:
- Within {{period_1_months}} months of training completion: {{percentage_1}}% reimbursement

5. Exemptions
5.1. Reimbursement may be waived at the sole discretion of {{company_name}} in exceptional circumstances, such as redundancy through no fault of the employee, provided the employee has fulfilled all other obligations.
5.2. Mandatory training required by law or for basic job function, as determined by the company, is typically exempt from reimbursement clauses.

A separate Training Agreement will be signed by the employee and a company representative for all training falling under the reimbursement conditions. This agreement will detail:
- The specific training program and its cost.
- The reimbursement period and declining scale.
- The method of reimbursement and payment terms.
- Any other relevant terms and conditions.
7. Responsibilities
**Management:** To assess the relevance and necessity of training, approve training requests, and ensure adherence to this policy.
**Human Resources:** To administer this policy, maintain records of training and agreements, and advise on compliance.
**Employees:** To diligently participate in approved training, supply evidence of completion, and adhere to the terms of this policy and any signed Training Agreement.
8. Policy Review
