5. Hazard Assessment and PPE Selection
A comprehensive hazard assessment will be conducted for each work area and task to identify potential hazards (e.g., impact, penetration, chemicals, heat, harmful dust, light radiation, electrical, etc.) that may necessitate the use of PPE. Based on the assessment, appropriate PPE will be selected in accordance with national and international safety standards. The selection process will consider the type of hazard, the extent of the risk, and the tasks being performed.
6. Types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Depending on the identified hazards, the following types of PPE may be required:
- **Head Protection:** Hard hats, bump caps (e.g., where there is a risk of falling objects or head bumps).
- **Eye and Face Protection:** Safety glasses, goggles, face shields (e.g., for protection against flying particles, splashes, or radiation).
- **Hearing Protection:** Earplugs, earmuffs (e.g., in high-noise environments).
- **Hand Protection:** Gloves (e.g., for protection against cuts, abrasions, chemicals, heat, or cold).
- **Foot Protection:** Safety shoes/boots (e.g., with steel toes or puncture-resistant soles).
- **Respiratory Protection:** Respirators, dust masks (e.g., for protection against dust, fumes, gases, or vapours).
- **Body Protection:** Coveralls, aprons, high-visibility clothing (e.g., for protection against chemicals, heat, or poor visibility).
- **Fall Protection:** Harnesses, lanyards (e.g., for work at heights).
7. Training
All employees required to use PPE will receive thorough training on:
- When PPE is necessary.
- What type of PPE is necessary.
- How to properly don, doff, adjust, and wear PPE.
- The limitations of the PPE.
- The proper care, maintenance, useful life, and disposal of PPE.
Training will be provided initially and at regular intervals, or when new hazards or types of PPE are introduced, or when an employee demonstrates a lack of understanding or improper use of PPE.
8. Maintenance, Storage, and Disposal of PPE
Employees are responsible for the daily care and maintenance of their assigned PPE. PPE must be cleaned, disinfected (where applicable), and stored in a manner that protects it from damage, contamination, or loss. Used or damaged PPE will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner, in accordance with applicable regulations.
9. Compliance and Enforcement

Any non-compliance will be addressed through the company's disciplinary procedures, which may include verbal warnings, written warnings, and in severe or repeated cases, termination of employment.
