Job Summary
The Janitor and Building Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and orderly condition of our facilities. This includes performing a variety of cleaning duties to ensure a safe, healthy, and pleasant environment for employees, clients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, emptying waste bins, and dusting surfaces.
Clean and sanitise restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and replenishing supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels).
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and breakrooms.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet cleaning machines.
Monitor and report any maintenance needs or safety hazards identified during cleaning rounds.
Manage cleaning supplies inventory and request new stock as needed.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Assist with setting up and tidying up for meetings or events as required.
Perform other cleaning-related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
Proven experience as a janitor, cleaner, or in a similar role.
Ability to handle cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and efficiently.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Familiarity with health and safety standards.
Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding cleaning tasks.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Working Conditions
This is a physically demanding role that requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and occasional unpleasant odours.
