Job Summary:
The Network and Telecommunication Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our organisation's network infrastructure and telecommunication systems. This role ensures the optimal performance, security, and availability of all network and communication services to support business operations. The specialist will troubleshoot network issues, implement security measures, and collaborate with IT teams to integrate new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network segments.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Manage and maintain telecommunication systems, including VoIP, PBX, and unified communications platforms.
• Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures to protect data and systems from unauthorised access.
• Perform regular network upgrades and patches to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users on network and telecommunication related issues.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve complex network issues.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for network and telecommunication systems.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience ({{number_of_years_experience}} years) in network administration and telecommunication support.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP), VPN, VLANs, and QoS.
• Experience with network security best practices and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS).
• Proficiency in managing and configuring network devices from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Huawei).
• Experience with VoIP and unified communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Asterisk).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
• This role is primarily based in an office environment.
• May require occasional after-hours support or weekend work for system maintenance or emergencies.
• Occasional travel to remote sites may be required.
