Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent (General) is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services necessary for the company's operations. This role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the supply chain. The agent will operate within established budgets and company policies to support production, sales, and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, delivery speed, and reliability.
2. Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions; verify specifications and terms with suppliers.
3. Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible value.
4. Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
5. Maintain accurate purchasing records, including vendor information, pricing, and delivery data.
6. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, accounting, sales) to understand their purchasing needs and ensure appropriate stock levels.
7. Conduct market research to stay informed about new products, supplier options, and industry trends.
8. Manage inventory levels and participate in inventory control processes.
9. Address and resolve issues related to damaged goods, late deliveries, or other supplier performance problems.
10. Adhere to company procurement policies and procedures, as well as relevant legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications
**Education:**
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. (Relevant certifications or extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
**Experience:**
