Job Summary:
The Shipping, Receiving and Traffic Clerk is responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of goods within the warehouse, including managing incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and liaising with freight forwarders and internal departments. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
**Shipping:**
- Prepare and process shipping documentation (e.g., waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists) for outgoing goods.
- Arrange for transportation of goods with chosen carriers and track shipments.
- Ensure proper packaging and labeling of products for safe and efficient delivery.
- Coordinate with sales and production departments to meet delivery schedules.
- Generate daily shipping reports and updates.
**Receiving:**
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders and delivery notes for accuracy and damage.
- Document discrepancies or damages and initiate claims with carriers or suppliers.
- Accurately record received inventory into the inventory management system.
- Organise and store received goods in designated warehouse locations.
**Traffic Management:**
- Coordinate with internal departments and external transport providers for optimal delivery routes and schedules.
- Monitor and report on traffic movements and potential delays.
- Maintain records of all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant traffic and transportation regulations.
**Inventory Management:**
- Assist in periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update the inventory management system.
- Report on stock levels and assist in identifying fast-moving or slow-moving items.
**Safety and Compliance:**
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently, if certified.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certificate or diploma in logistics, supply chain, or warehousing is an advantage.
