Job Summary:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. They will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Qualifications:
Proven working experience as a Systems Administrator or similar relevant experience.
Solid experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux based environments.
Solid experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Server environments.
Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, VirtualBox).
Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
